Friesland’s most special private garage

At number 15 in the Midstrjitte, you will see a row of houses with red roof tiles. The right side of this row is home to a very special garage. The idea of a garage was originally turned down by the municipality, for the houses were part of the village’s protected view and therefore must remain unchanged. This particular owner, however, was resourceful and designed a construction that preserves the house’s exterior aspect, whilst offering the facility of indoor parking. Electronics provided the solution; the push of a button on the remote control triggers the unfolding of the house walls like an accordion. As soon as the car has been parked, the walls are closed again. For anyone who does not believe this; take a closer look and you are sure to see the hinge seams. You can also simply observe the photographs in the windows and accept them as proof.
